New Book! “A Borrowed Winter”

My new book is here! A Borrowed Winter tells the tale of my five-month-trip through the Balkans during the height of the pandemic.

Here’s the blurb:

Itchy feet and a taste for adventure took the author to South America in the spring of 2020, just as the world was coming to grips with a new contagious virus. It turned out to be a short trip when Colombia closed its borders, sending travelers home. Taking advantage of a temporary lull in the pandemic’s spread later that year, Andrew Wilson set off for the Balkans where he spent five cold and lonely months navigating an odd and changing landscape through Albania, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Bulgaria and Turkey. A Borrowed Winter follows his adventures, mishaps and worries as he improvises his way across an empty corner of Europe trying to stay one step ahead of Covid. The book includes a link to photographs of the trip.

Most countries closed their borders when the pandemic hit, but after the first wave died down the Balkans reopened. Foolish or adventurous, some of us continued traveling during Covid despite the risks and unknown. Read the story and decide for yourself.

A Borrowed Winter is now available in paperback or eBook. Find it here on Amazon, or ask for it at your local bookseller.

Thank you for your support and interest! – Andrew

  1. Hey Andrew Tried texting you but not sure if I have your correct number now, give me a shout 604-830-8664. Read your book by the way and really enjoyed it Aaron

  2. Congratulations on the new book. Bought! FYI, Resting with Old Man (great read) is no longer on Amazon if you weren’t aware.

    1. Hey Paul – thanks a million! I appreciate it. I checked, and Resting With Old Man is still up there as far as I can see! Which market are you looking for it? It shows available in Canada, the US, and the UK, (and others). It doesn’t always pop up immediately; sometimes it seems you have to narrow the search for only books – but it’s there. Could you kindly check again, and let me know? Thanks! – Andrew

  3. Congratulations! Is it possible to buy the book from the author, or should we continue to make Mr. Bezos richer?

    1. Well, sadly at this point you’ll have to make Jeff richer, or wait till the autumn when I’m back in town and I’ll gladly get you a copy. If it makes you feel any better, I get some royalties on each sale, so not all the money goes to Mr. Bezos (which probably makes him angry).
