Bangkok: Photo Essay

I’ve just spent a month in Bangkok. Rather than publish an entire blog post for just one city, I decided to take a “photo essay” approach to showing my trip instead.

I loved Bangkok. My first visit there was in 1987 but I’ve been back a half dozen times since. Much has changed—and much hasn’t—but I still find the city extremely atmospheric and interesting. It’s not the main tourist sites that make it so fascinating, it’s the regular little neighborhoods hidden outside the central zones where you discover the surprises. Getting beneath the surface can take work, but someone’s got to do it.

I took what I think are some good pictures. Looking at them is easy: click HERE to go to the Bangkok album in my SmugMug photo sharing site. Each photo includes a caption highlighting information about the photo, and the city.

I hope you enjoy them. Thanks for looking, and…stay tuned!

  1. Really interesting Andrew.
I’ve just been back in Bangkok for a couple of days (part of my visa run from Hanoi). You take great photos and were there long enough to see things from a different angle. Excellent.
I love your Hanoi photos too.
Weirdly I’m off to Istanbul in April, another of your recent visits.

    1. I appreciate it, thanks for tuning in. I’m in Taipei now for one week, then 10 days in Tokyo on the way home to Vancouver. Then in August it’s Ecuador, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico. No chance for Peru on that one. Soon, though.
